 * Our Future. There are some exciting things that will be coming around to midweekchurch  between now and the end of the year. The church has its 100th anniversary celebrations on Sunday 17th October, it annual camp in early November and a weeklong mission in early December. Also in December, Michael (and Kathryn) Boyd will be joining us as our full time Associate Minister. We also have to look to employ someone at BPHS as an SRE teacher, are interviewing a possible part time youth worker, as well as do all the other things that need to be done. So if you would like to be involved in some of these things or just the regular activities of midweekchurch then please see Stephen, Rebecca or Jacqui and discuss with them what is involved.

 * Church Directory. Please fill in the sheet of paper to give your permission for us to put in your details for our Church directory.

* SRE (Scripture) Teachers.  With all the discussion about possible Ethics lessons at the same time as SRE, the challenge for the Churches is to lift the bar in the way that they are teaching SRE. The denomination has proposed mandatory training and some evaluation of our current teachers, which will increase the standard of teaching. The other thing we can do is try and find more (and younger) teachers. If you have some time during the week and would be willing to either support a current teacher or teach a class yourself, please see Stephen.

* Our Aim for August is to grow in giving. “It is better to give than to receive” Paul quotes Jesus in his letter to the Corinthians, but how do we give to a God who has everything? By giving ourselves! So what have you got that you are able to give to God and to His work? All of us are different with different gifts and abilities. Each one of us are at different stages of life and so that means at times we can afford to give of our time and talents and our money and at other times it is much harder. But each of us should be striving to grow in our giving. So think and pray this through and then find away when you can give and receive!

* Youth Afternoon. The next youth afternoon will be on Sunday 29th August, and our young people are going fishing! So why not join them at 3pm at the Tweed hall (they won’t fish there, only meet!) and then later at the youth service at 5pm at the Tweed Church. Don’t forget this is our Churches attempt to build a critical mass of young people so that we can do more for them than we are currently doing at present.

* Andy’s. Due to the election our next Andy’s will not be on Saturday 21st August but on Saturday 28th August. This event will be a progressive dinner. This was hugely successful last year and should be even better this year. Please let Gavin Kester know if you can come and if you would be willing to have two other families over for either snacks, main course or dessert. For more details please speak to Gavin Kester. The September Andy’s will be a parenting evening, so please put September 18th in your diary NOW.

* Federal Election. Want to consider/compare what each of the major parties have to say about social and religious issues? Then the Australian Christian Lobby has put together a leaflet with the major parties answers to 26 of their questions. Either pick a handout from the back table of look at Australiavotes.org.au
